I FINALLY Try Singapore’s Legendary Carrot Cake (2HR Wait?!)
I tried one of the most popular carrot cakes (chai tow kway) in Singapore. 💰Get S$50 when you sign up for Revolut here: https://get.revolut.com/z4lF/ghib4
* S$20 min. spend, T&Cs and end date apply.
Today, I head to Yishun to try one of Singapore’s most talked-about hawker stalls - 618 SIM Carrot Cake. This stall is known for serving only white carrot cake, selling out early, and attracting queues that can go up to 2-3 hours.
I wanted to find out what makes this humble plate of chai tow kway so special, why people are willing to wait so long for it, and most importantly - is it actually worth the queue?
While exploring the area around Khatib/Yishun, I also check out another local favourite, 618 Hokkien Mee, and take a walk around the neighbourhood to see what else this underrated part of Singapore has to offer.

Why They Left Singapore for Japan... But Came Back
Today, I’m meeting Singaporeans who studied in Japan - and then eventually came back to Singapore. From the outside, Japan can look like a dream: beautiful seasons, amazing food, polite culture, clean streets, and a completely different lifestyle. But what is it really like when you actually live there as a student?
Over hawker food in Singapore, we talk about why they chose Japan, what shocked them after moving there, what tourists misunderstand, what Japan does better than Singapore, what Singapore does better than Japan, and why they eventually returned home.
As a Japanese person living in Singapore, I found it really interesting to hear how Singaporeans experienced Japan differently from how I see it myself.
This video is not about deciding which country is better. It’s about understanding what kind of life actually suits you. Would you live in Japan long-term, or would you come back to Singapore too? Let me know in the comments.
Big thanks to Leeyon and Gen from JUGAS (Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore) for sharing their stories! https://www.jugas.org.sg/

I Found Singapore’s CHEAPEST Hawker Stall
I found a hawker drink stall in Singapore selling drinks for just $0.30. Yes, thirty cents. In 2026.
This old-school stall is Sun Kee Drinks at Kovan 209 Market & Food Centre, and it recently went viral for its unbelievably low prices. But of course, cheap doesn’t always mean good - so I went down to Kovan to try it for myself.
In this video, I check out the $0.30 drinks, see whether they actually taste good, and explore the hawker centre to find out what else is worth eating there.
Is this Singapore’s cheapest hawker stall? And more importantly, how long can prices like this still survive?
If you know another super cheap hawker stall in Singapore, let me know in the comments.

I Visit Singapore’s NEWEST Underground Food Street
There’s a place in Singapore that I somehow completely missed. 🌸 Sake Ichiba MOTHER'S DAY PROMO! For every purchase of 720ml Singapore Label Sake, get the 300ml version (same label) for free! While stocks last. T&C below applies. https://linktr.ee/ghibojisan
*valid for orders placed by 10th May 2026
*complimentary 300ml label will be of the same label
*300ml label will not appear in cart but will be included in your order
*legal drinking age is 18 in Singapore
It’s a relatively new underground food street linking Chinatown MRT to Telok Ayer MRT - and even though I come to Chinatown all the time, I didn’t even know this existed.
So today, I gave myself a simple challenge: visit at least 10 shops in one day and crown the champion of this underground food street.
From drinks to desserts to proper meals, I’ll score each stop and pick my top choice by the end.
Is this place actually a hidden gem in Singapore… or is there a reason nobody talks about it?
