I followed Haru, a Japanese hawker stall owner running his business in the heartlands of Ang Mo Kio, Singapore.
From preparing chicken collagen ramen early in the morning to working long hours and dealing with the reality of running a food business in Singapore, this video looks at what life is really like for a Japanese person who has been living here for 10 years.

I Took Singapore’s Forgotten Ferry to Johor

This ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal goes to Tanjung Pengelih in the Pengerang area in Johor, Malaysia. I had lived in Singapore for 7 years, but somehow never really knew this ferry terminal existed. Most people think of HarbourFront when taking a ferry overseas, but this secluded terminal in the east of Singapore connects to places like Batam, Bintan, Desaru Coast, and even a quiet corner of Johor.
The ferry ride itself was only about 45 minutes, but what surprised me most was not the route - it was where it took me. Instead of JB malls, crowds, and traffic jams, I found a slower side of Johor: small towns, seafood, old jetties, friendly locals, and one of the best lobster meals I’ve had in a long time.

An Indian hawker cooking Cantonese zi char for over 30 years - and speaking fluent Mandarin? I visited Devid in Singapore’s Chinatown to hear his story and find out whether his food lives up to the hype.
Raised by a Chinese family, Devid serves dishes like moonlight hor fun, ginger and spring onion beef, and his own version of fish head curry. But this stall also lets you bring your own seafood for him to cook. So I brought Japanese sashimi-grade kanpachi and octopus, gave him no recipe, and left everything in his hands.
