mornings have been all about simple routines, warming breakfasts, and taking a quiet moment to clear my head before the day begins. -
My #1 Soup for female health → period, skin, energy!
I struggled with everything–irregular periods, cramps, acne & dehydrated skin, fatigue... you name it! 🫠 I never knew this could all be soothed with one soup–herbal chicken soup 🍲 After my TCM doctor learned about all my symptoms, the first thing she asked me to start making was chicken soup (& to start eating breakfasts again 😂).
She said chicken soup is the perfect constitution to HEAL a female body, which tends to run more "yin" or "cool". We're constantly expending energy, we're losing blood every month, and all of this needs to be supported with warming foods. Chicken is a "warm"protein, not too "hot" like beef, and so it's the PERFECT everyday soup for us gals. If you want to be healed from the inside out, follow along this easy recipe!! It truly works, and my body feels so different after adding this to my weekly meals 🥰

This will be a 3 part broth recipe series: chicken | pork | beef... coming soon!
How to make:
1️⃣ Blanch the chicken: put chicken in pot, add cold water (enough to cover the chicken), add 2 slices of ginger and cooking wine (optional). Bring to boil, and scoop out the scum on the surface. After 5-10 minutes, pour out all the water and rinse the chicken in cold water.
2️⃣ Add chicken back into clean pot. Add water and cover the chicken. Add jujube dates, and other ingredients (excluding goji berries). Bring to boil, and then turn down to simmer for 1-3 hours on low heat. Add goji berries 15-20 minutes before serving. Salt to taste, enjoy!!
Cooking options: you can also use a pressure cooker to make the soup!
Other ingredients you can add:
🍲 american ginseng (boost energy & immune system)
🍲 codonopsis root (strengthening digestion and nourishes blood)
🍲 angelica root (helps regulate menstruation, and digestive issues)
🍲 chinese yam (aids with fatigue, menstrual cramps, digestion)
🍲 astragalus root (fighting fatigue and boosting immune system)
🍲 dried shiitake mushroom (helps lower blood pressure & cholestrol)
