Myanmar coup leader takes office as president, vows to restore ASEAN ties
Myanmar’s junta leader Min Aung Hlaing has been sworn in as president, pledging renewed engagement with neighbours and ASEAN after years of isolation.
The former commander-in-chief led the 2021 coup that deposed Aung San Suu Kyi and dismantled the elected government, triggering protests and a widening conflict.

Gaza ceasefire: Health system on the edge six months in
October’s ceasefire has brought little relief to Gaza’s health system, with hospitals damaged by more than two years of conflict and no working MRI scanner in the strip. Restrictions and delays on medical supplies slow repairs and diagnostics.
